WRITING

Writing on life coaching, recovery, creativity, and community

Inside the Self Made library

Cultivating your self-knowledge, resilience, and courage takes practice. Practice is what has us actually do the work of becoming responsible for our lives—and allows us a say in how we design our lives. It is what helps us create community and beauty and meaning in the face of everything else we can't control.

Because writing is my personal flavor of practice, however you’re a part of Self Made’s bold, beautiful community, I’m glad to share it with you.

Here, you’ll find personal essays and articles that explore creativity, recovery, self-development, meditation, daily practice, my beloved San Francisco, and so much more.

(Stuff I like and think you will also like? Tools, strategies, and teachings? Yes and yes.)

It’s me, Dani Cirignano, the woman behind the words

And I prefer the margins over the middle every damn time.

I’m a writer, Integral Coach, and recovery guide located in San Francisco, CA.

As the founder of Self Made, I help uncategorizable people design bold, on-purpose lives, and I nurture Self Made’s creative community on Substack with weekly personal essays and reflections.

I write about creativity, recovery, and community, and I hold that it’s an expanded sense of joy, pleasure and play that is the ultimate aim of personal growth and self development.

I earned my Master of Fine Arts in Writing from the University of San Francisco, and my words have also been featured at Good Housekeeping, The Temper, and The Milsource.

I’m available for guest essays/ features/ podcast interviews (as well as heaps of SF trivia from my tour guide days), so if you’re curious about collaborating, please reach out!
